Our Diabetes Relief Program  is speciifically designed to help patients (even those who are not overweight) diagnosed with diabetes, pre-diabetes or metabolic syndrome (see below).  Although overweight patients can lose a significant amount of weight in our program, the primary focus is the correction of underlying metabolic abnormalities that lead to elevated cardiovascular risk and diabetic complications.  A full description of the program can be found on the link on the left labeled Diabetes Relief Program.

• Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of risk factors for stroke and heart disease.  If you have any three you are at elevated risk for complications.  HDL and triglyceriders are part of a lipid (cholesterol) test.
• Waist circumference (not pants size):  average male 40 inches or more; females over 35 inches
• Systolic (top number) blood pressure over 135 mm Hg
• Fasting glucose 100 mg/dl or greater
• HDL (good cholesterol):  males less than 40 mg/dl; females less than 50 mg/dl
• Triglycerides in excess of 150 md/dl
